Torrential rains kill over 60 in Nigeria
North East Coordinator of Nigeria's National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Muhammad Usman has said that at least 15 dead bodies had been taken out from the flooded Ngadabul River in northeastern Nigeria.
"The bodies were removed from the water in the administrative boundaries of the state capital of Borno, the city of Maiduguri," Nigerian Channels TV quotes him as saying, TASS reports.
Usman said torrential rains caused the Ngadabul River to rise.
"Torrential rains have been falling in the northeast of Nigeria for several days. They caused floods and numerous landslides in this part of the country. So, the authorities of the state of Jigawa, neighbouring Borno, reported that on August 30, 51 people died as a result of the flood," he said.
