Turkish defence minister arrives in Riga

A welcoming ceremony has been held in Riga for Turkish National Defence Minister Hulusi Akar.

On July 28, Akar was met by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of Latvia Artis Pabriks, Anadolu Agency informs.

As part of his visit to Riga, the Turkish minister visited the Riga Brotherhood Cemetery - the largest military cemetery in the Baltic country.

Akar laid a wreath at the memorial to people who sacrificed their lives during World War I and in the Liberation Battles for Latvia and paid tribute to their memory with a minute of silence.
