Serbian socialists urge authorities to investigate possible ammunition transfers to Ukraine

30 May 2025 21:04

The Socialist Movement, founded by former Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and ex-head of the national intelligence service Aleksandar Vulin, has called on Serbian authorities to launch legal investigations following reports that Serbian ammunition may have been supplied to Ukraine via intermediaries.

The statement, issued by Vulin’s press office, was in response to allegations from Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.

The movement’s release pointedly remarked, “If anyone was still unclear about why Aleksandar Vulin opposed the European Union, here is the answer.”

The movement praised Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić’s initiative to examine the circumstances of the ammunition exports and to determine whether the documents regarding the final recipients were falsified. Highlighting export controls, the party stressed that the Serbian Security Information Agency mandates all buyers of Serbian military products to provide written guarantees that the ammunition will not be transferred to third parties without Belgrade’s explicit approval.

“If any buyer violated the agreement and these guarantees, and lethal weapons were found on the Ukrainian front, Serbia must pursue legal action both in domestic and international courts,” the Socialist Movement warned. Reaffirming Serbia’s official stance of neutrality, the statement underscored that the country should not become involved in the conflict. “Russia does not deserve any harm from Serbia, and we Serbs are not a nation without memory and honor,” the movement concluded.
