Türkiye detains 81 suspects in nationwide FETÖ crackdown VIDEO
The Turkish Ministry of Interior conducted large-scale simultaneous operations against the Fethullahist Terrorist Organisation (FETÖ) across several provinces, Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu announced on X.
According to him, 81 suspects were detained during the operations, including active government employees, Caliber.Az informs.
Investigations revealed that the suspects were users of the encrypted messaging app ByLock, which was used by FETÖ members for secret communications, Soylu said.
He added that the probe also established that the suspects planned to recruit law enforcement personnel and monitored them, including gathering information about their families, workplaces, assignments, and health conditions.
FETÖ is the Turkish government’s designation for the movement led by cleric Fethullah Gülen, who lives in exile in the U.S. Once focused on education and religious activities, the group is accused of infiltrating state institutions and orchestrating the failed 2016 coup attempt in Türkiye. Since then, it has been banned, and thousands of suspected members have been arrested or dismissed from public service.
