Turkiye unveils main directions in Syria for new anti-terror operations
The main directions of the Turkish army within the planned new anti-terror operation in northern Syria will be terrorist facilities in the areas of Tel Rifaat and Manbij.
The scope of the operation and its objectives will be discussed at a meeting of Turkiye’s National Security Council chaired by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on May 26, according to the Sabah newspaper.
During the meeting, the start time for the operation will be set, which is expected to begin shortly after the meeting of the Security Council ends.
According to the newspaper, preparations and reconnaissance evaluation of the area for the fifth operation of the Turkish army in northern Syria since 2016 have already been completed, and targets have been identified for air and artillery strikes, mainly in areas where the United States has withdrawn its units.
The operation will expectedly involve Turkish Air Force’s F-16 fighters, drones, special forces units, and ground forces’ artillery.
