German FM in China: Seeking global peace talks to resolve Ukraine crisis
German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has stated that her visit to China is focused on initiating discussions aimed at resolving the situation in Ukraine.
In a joint press conference with her Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, in Beijing, Baerbock emphasized, "To protect our own German and European security, we must support Ukraine, and just as importantly, we must engage in the global peace process. That is why I am here in China today," Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.
Ahead of her visit, Baerbock remarked that while Germany prefers cooperation with China over confrontation, Berlin cannot overlook China's support for Russia.
On December 2, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz visited Kyiv for talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, marking his first trip to the Ukrainian capital in two and a half years.
Earlier, Baerbock had accused Russia of undermining peace in Europe.
