Syrian airstrikes on Idlib city kill dozens, including women, children
The death toll from airstrikes carried out by the Bashar al-Assad regime on the center of Idlib city in northwestern Syria has risen to 16.
Regime aircraft targeted many neighborhoods in the heart of Idlib, causing widespread destruction, Caliber.Az reports per Turkish media.
Sources from the Syrian Civil Defence reported that the strikes resulted in 16 civilian deaths and left 59 others injured, including 21 children and 19 women.
In addition to the airstrikes, clashes have been ongoing in the region. On November 27, fighting broke out between Assad regime forces and anti-regime armed groups in western Aleppo province in northern Syria. From November 27 to 28, the armed groups advanced swiftly from western Aleppo toward the city center, and by November 30, they had captured most of the city center.
On the same day, the armed groups also seized the town of Khan Sheikhoun, effectively taking control of all of Idlib province.
