Turkmenistan joins Karabakh reconstruction with grand mosque project in Fuzuli PHOTO
On October 7 in Gabala, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and other heads of state and government attending the 12th Summit of the Council of Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) participated in an online ceremony to lay the foundation stone for a mosque to be built by Turkmenistan in Fuzuli.
According to local media, the planned mosque complex will occupy more than one hectare and will feature two 40-metre minarets and a main dome rising to 30 metres.
The facility is designed to accommodate up to 500 worshippers at a time.
The project forms part of broader reconstruction and restoration support for Karabakh and East Zangezur provided by OTS member and observer states.
Contributions include Turkmenistan’s mosque in Fuzuli; the Mirzo Ulugbek School constructed by Uzbekistan in Fuzuli; the Kurmangazy Children’s Creativity Centre built by Kazakhstan in Fuzuli; the Manas School erected by Kyrgyzstan in Aghdam; a school building under construction in Jabrayil by Hungary; and the participation of Turkish companies in the construction of numerous tunnels, bridges and roads.
