Two border violators detained on Azerbaijan-Iran border PHOTO
On July 3 at 23:27, two individuals were apprehended for violating the state border between Iran and Azerbaijan at the Goytapa border detachment of the State Border Service.
The State Border Service of Azerbaijan said that the two suspects ignored border guards’ commands to halt and attempted to flee, Caliber.Az reports.
Under the Law "On State Border," of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the guards fired warning shots into the air before successfully detaining the violators.
The detained individuals were identified as Anar Rafail Tariverdiyev (born in 1981) and Sarvar Mehman Jarchiyev (born in 1983), residents of Gazakh district.
During a search, border guards discovered and confiscated 15 kilograms of cannabis and 25 grams of opium, totaling 15 kg 25 g of narcotic drugs.
Ongoing operative and investigative measures are being conducted to further probe the incident and address potential legal implications.
