UAE's Masdar reveals plans to implement in Azerbaijan by 2037
UAE-based energy giant Masdar plans to implement a 1-GW onshore wind power project in Azerbaijan by 2026, and a 2-GW offshore wind and green hydrogen project by 2033, and further expansion of solar, onshore wind and offshore wind by 2037.
As Trend reported on March 14, Masdar Azerbaijan director Murad Sadikhov made the remarks at the panel discussion "Green hydrogen: state of affairs and application in Azerbaijan" during the seminar "Green hydrogen - the path to decarbonization" in Baku.
“In 2022, Masdar and the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan signed an agreement on the development and investment in renewable energy sources. Also in 2022, the parties signed an implementation agreement that covers a number of offshore wind energy projects and green hydrogen production," he said.
In addition, according to Sadikhov, Masdar also signed an agreement with SOCAR to explore the potential for electrifying the company's offshore oil and gas facilities in the Caspian Sea using offshore wind power.
