Azerbaijan highlights innovation, sustainability at 44th FAO session in Rome
Azerbaijan is actively participating in the 44th session of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), currently taking place in Rome.
The country’s delegation is led by Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Speaking at the plenary session on "Promoting Innovation for Food Security," Mammadov detailed Azerbaijan’s efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on the development of a sustainable agri-food system and climate change adaptation.
He noted that "a significant portion of investments is directed towards digitalisation and the implementation of 'smart' agriculture." These initiatives also cover the liberated territories, designated as "green energy zones," where the concepts of "smart city" and "smart village" are being implemented.
Mammadov stressed the importance of international cooperation in transforming agri-food systems and reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s readiness to actively participate in multilateral initiatives.
