UK faces major cyber threats from Russia, China, North Korea, and Iran Cyber security chief says
Felicity Oswald, acting director general of the UK's National Cyber Security Centre, underscored that Russia, China, North Korea, and Iran pose the most substantial cybersecurity threats to the country.
She highlighted these nations, alongside global criminal groups, as the primary sources of cyber threats encountered by the UK, Caliber.Az reports citing Russian media.
"The cyber threats we face originate from criminal organizations worldwide and several state actors. Specifically, we are concerned about four major states: China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea," Oswald emphasized.
Oswald particularly raised concerns about China's cybersecurity strategies, pointing to the May 2023 attacks on critical U.S. infrastructure allegedly carried out by the Chinese hacking group Volt Typhoon.
She characterized these incidents as a troubling escalation in China's cyber intentions.
