Ukraine asks Bulgaria to provide MiG-29 fighter jets
Bulgaria should follow the example of Poland and Slovakia and transfer its MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine.
This is reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the statement of Advisor to the Minister of Defence of Ukraine Yuriy Sak, which is quoted by BNT News.
He said it would strengthen Ukraine's air force. Since Ukraine's first request for weapons last April, Bulgaria has repeatedly said it cannot provide its planes, whose flying life is running out due to a lack of spare parts.
"Every day we kill 900 to 1,000 Russian soldiers. They don't care about the lives of their soldiers. They use them as cannon fodder. Of course, this is war, and we have casualties too, but they are much smaller. And this is our tactic - we maximize enemy losses while minimizing our own," the minister's advisor said.
Because of the continuous shelling, Ukraine needs to strengthen its air defense. Ukraine thanks Poland and Slovakia, which decided at this stage to send 15 MiG-29 aircraft with spare parts.
"These aircraft will certainly be used effectively by our Air Force. They will improve the capabilities of our Air Force, and we call on all other countries, including Bulgaria, to also consider strengthening the Ukrainian Air Force by sending us the aircraft that you have," Sak said.
Reportedly, Bulgaria has at least 12 MiG-29 fighters.
