Ukraine confirms strikes on major Russian oil refinery, pumping station
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has confirmed strikes on Russian oil infrastructure, including a refinery and a key pumping station.
According to official data, the primary target was the AVT-6 primary oil refining unit at the Lukoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez oil refinery in the city of Kstovo in Russia's Nizhny Novgorod region, where a fire reportedly broke out following the incident.
“Lukoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez refinery and other enemy facilities were hit. Results of the strike on the Yaroslavl-3 pumping station,” the statement said.
The General Staff said that on May 19 and during the night of May 20, 2026, units of Ukraine’s Defence Forces carried out strikes on several strategic facilities used by Russian forces.
In particular, the AVT-6 primary oil refining unit was struck, resulting in a fire at the Lukoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez refinery near the town of Kstovo in Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod region.
The statement added that the strike on the Yaroslavl-3 oil pumping station in Semibratovo, Yaroslavl region, caused preliminary damage to four storage tanks with a total capacity of 140,000 cubic metres.
The General Staff noted that the facility is a key component of Russia’s oil transportation network and plays a role in supporting the country’s military-industrial infrastructure.
