Ukraine hands over reconstruction plans to Türkiye as tenders for major projects loom
The process of rebuilding Ukraine’s war-torn regions is rapidly gaining momentum, with Türkiye playing an increasingly active role in the effort.
According to the pro-government Turkish newspaper "Türkiye", citing informed sources, Ukraine has provided Türkiye with a comprehensive package of documents detailing reconstruction projects planned for implementation in 2025, per Caliber.Az.
The received dossier outlines a variety of initiatives, with an emphasis on projects that are deemed to be of the highest priority. Tenders for these projects are expected to be announced soon, with competitive procedures set to begin between April and May of this year. This signals a strong intent from both sides to begin work on these critical efforts without delay.
One of the key areas highlighted in the reconstruction plan is the modernization of Ukraine’s transport infrastructure. Priority will be given to the reconstruction of existing customs points along highways, as well as the construction of new customs facilities. Additionally, there is a focus on establishing a nationwide system of toll roads, which is expected to play a significant role in restoring Ukraine’s transport connectivity.
Beyond transportation, the reconstruction package also includes important projects in several other sectors. Energy and energy efficiency improvements, social housing initiatives, and water supply development are among the key projects planned.
During a recent meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan emphasized that Turkish companies were fully prepared to support Ukraine in dealing with the aftermath of the conflict. Erdogan reiterated Türkiye’s readiness to contribute to the large-scale reconstruction of Ukraine, highlighting the country's commitment to aiding its neighbour in the aftermath of the war.
Türkiye has previously expressed its interest in participating in the rebuilding of Ukraine. Turkish contractors are hopeful that once the conflict ends, they will have the opportunity to play a significant role in the reconstruction of cities and infrastructure, helping to revitalize the war-torn nation.
