Ukraine, Moldova agree to resume rail transport
The Moldovan Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development has said that Ukraine and Moldova had decided to restore rail transport between the countries.
"The route of freight trains on the Berezino (Ukraine) - Bessarabka (Moldova) railway section will be opened this autumn, according to the memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development of Moldova and the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine," RBC-Ukraine reports with reference to the ministry.
Moldova plans to export and import goods after the resumption of rail transport through the Ukrainian Izmail Sea Commercial Port on the Danube River. For its part, Ukraine will be able to import goods from Moldova and the European Union markets.
The ministry added that Moldova will build 1.2 kilometres of tracks while Ukraine - about 23 kilometres.
