Ukraine offers Poles special status
The Ukrainian parliament (Verkhovna Rada) has approved in the first reading the bill "On the establishment of legal and social guarantees for citizens of the Republic of Poland who are on the territory of Ukraine."
The presidential draft was supported by 321 MPs.
RBC-Ukraine reports this with reference to MP Oleksiy Goncharenko.
The document establishes the possibility for Polish citizens to legally stay on the territory of Ukraine for 18 months.
At the same time, the Poles will have equal rights with the citizens of Ukraine on:
o employment in Ukraine;
o conducting business activities in Ukraine;
o training in educational institutions of Ukraine;
o medical care on the territory of Ukraine.
Also, according to the law, citizens of Poland will be entitled to certain social payments, which are provided for by the legislation of Ukraine.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy submitted a bill on granting Poles in Ukraine a special status to the parliament on July 11.
