Ukraine's FM: Russian massive assault shows Putin ignores promises to Trump VIDEO
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has commented on Russia’s combined attack on Ukraine on the night of February 2 to 3, calling it clear evidence that Moscow continues to pursue its own agenda while ignoring diplomatic efforts and agreements.
Sybiha published the statement on his X account, stressing that Russia launched hundreds of drones and more than 60 missiles in the latest nighttime attack, targeting energy infrastructure and residential buildings, Caliber.Az reports.
The temperature in Ukraine is below -20°C (-4°F). Overnight, Russia attacked with 450 drones and over 60 missiles, including ballistic ones.

"The temperature in Ukraine is below -20°C (-4°F). Overnight, Russia attacked with 450 drones and over 60 missiles, including ballistic ones," the minister said.
He said Russia primarily targeted energy and residential houses in Kyiv, Dnipro, Kharkiv, Sumy, Odesa, and other regions.
“Putin waited for the temperatures to drop and stockpiled drones and missiles to continue his genocidal attacks against the Ukrainian people. Neither anticipated diplomatic efforts in Abu Dhabi this week nor his promises to the United States kept him from continuing terror against ordinary people in the harshest winter. We are dealing with terrorists who must be forced to stop violence,” Sybiha said.
He stressed that Ukraine’s partners have leverage and must use it.
“Strengthen Ukraine’s air defense and energy resilience. Increase pressure on Moscow. Deprive the Russian war machine of energy revenues and access to technology. Isolate the Russian regime. Stop and confiscate Russia’s illegal oil tankers,” the foreign minister stated.
Sybiha added: “Putin must be deprived of illusions that he can achieve anything by his bombing, terror, and aggression.”
Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed to a temporary pause in attacks on Ukrainian cities (particularly Kyiv and various towns) and energy infrastructure at the personal request of U.S. President Donald Trump, as announced by Trump on January 29, 2026, during a televised Cabinet meeting at the White House.
Trump stated: "I personally asked President Putin not to fire into Kyiv and the various towns for a week, and he agreed to do that." He framed the request as a humanitarian measure due to "extraordinary cold" weather gripping Ukraine (temperatures dropping to -20°C/-4°F or lower, causing severe hardship amid prior damage to power grids from Russian strikes).
The Kremlin confirmed this the next day (January 30, 2026), with spokesman Dmitry Peskov stating that Trump had made a "personal request" to Putin to refrain from striking Kyiv "for a week until February 1" to "create favourable conditions for negotiations." Peskov affirmed that Putin had agreed.
