Ukraine wants “Iron Dome” from Israel
Ukrainian Ambassador to Israel Yevhen Korniychuk has asked the Israeli authorities to allow the sale of the “Iron Dome” missile interception system to Ukraine.
At a press conference in Tel Aviv on June 7, Korniychuk called on the Israeli government to back up the support for Ukraine with military assistance, RBC-Ukraine reports, citing Associated Press.
He said that Ukraine is interested in purchasing the “Iron Dome” system and the United States would not resist such a deal.
The US has been providing financial support to the Iron Dome project for about 10 years, allocating about $1.6 billion for its production and maintenance. The system is designed to intercept and disable short-range missiles.
In addition, Korniychuk said that Israel had rejected Washington’s request to Germany for the supply of “Spike” anti-tank missiles to Ukraine with an Israeli license.
