Ukrainian air force faces shortage of air defence missiles, official says
The Ukrainian Armed Forces are experiencing shortages of missiles for their air defence systems, according to Colonel Yuriy Ignat, head of communications for the Air Force Command.
In an interview with RBC-Ukraine, Ignat said that at times some air defence systems were completely depleted, forcing units to repel attacks with their last remaining missiles.
He explained that in some cases, units had only two missiles available out of six in their launchers, significantly limiting their ability to defend against aerial threats.
Ignat emphasised that Ukrainian leadership, including President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, had repeatedly drawn international partners’ attention to the problem, noting that some air defence complexes were left empty, leaving the country vulnerable to incoming attacks.
