Ukrainian President Zelenskyy expresses condolences to Azerbaijan over deadly plane crash
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy extended his heartfelt condolences to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and the people of Azerbaijan following the tragic crash of an Azerbaijan Airlines passenger plane.
The incident occurred on December 25, when the flight, en route from Baku to Grozny, crashed, resulting in the loss of many lives, Caliber.Az reports.
According to an official statement from the President of Azerbaijan's Press Service, President Zelensky called President Aliyev on December 28 to express his deep sympathy over the disaster. Zelenskyy conveyed his condolences, offering his support to the Azerbaijani people in this difficult time. He also wished a speedy recovery to those who were injured in the crash.
In response, President Ilham Aliyev thanked President Zelenskyy for his thoughtful words and expressed gratitude for the solidarity shown by Ukraine during this tragic event.
The crash occurred on December 25, when an Embraer aircraft operated by Azerbaijan Airlines, flying from Baku to Grozny, tragically went down near Aktau. The flight had 67 people on board, including 37 Azerbaijanis, 16 Russians, 6 Kazakhs, and 3 Kyrgyz nationals. Tragically, 38 people lost their lives, while 29 survivors were rescued.
