Ukrainian Rada calls on Georgian president to pardon Saakashvili

The Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada has appealed to the Georgia president and the parliaments of the EU member states about the need to implement a humanitarian act and pardon former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili.
According to Ukrainian MP Oleksiy Goncharenko, draft resolution No. 9491 was supported by 285 MPs, RBC-Ukraine reports.
The Verkhovna Rada in order to preserve the life and health of a citizen of Ukraine:
- called on Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili to grant Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets access to Ukrainian citizen Mikheil Saakashvili;
- appealed to the President of Georgia with a request to implement a humanitarian act and pardon Saakashvili, given his difficult physical condition;
- appealed to the parliaments of the EU member states with a request to adopt resolutions on the need to pardon Saakashvili by the President of Georgia.
