Bild: Reza Pahlavi gets invitation to Munich Security Conference

Reza Pahlavi, Crown Prince of Iran in exile, has been invited to participate in the Munich Security Conference, scheduled for February 13–15.

“Based on available information, we expect that he will also speak at demonstrations. This weekend, all global attention will be focused on Munich,” a source told Bild.

On February 14, Iranians around the world will take to the streets for a “Global Action Day,” organized by Reza Pahlavi, son of the last shah of Iran Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. The protest in Munich coincides with the weekend of the Munich Security Conference. Police are expecting around 100,000 demonstrators.

BILD writes that around 6,000 police officers are to be deployed during the Conference.

The events leading to Reza Pahlavi's invitation to the Munich Security Conference (MSC) and the planned large-scale demonstration in Munich on February 14, 2026, stem from ongoing unrest in Iran, particularly the major wave of protests in late 2025 and early 2026, combined with Reza Pahlavi's growing role as a prominent exiled opposition figure.

The immediate trigger traces back to widespread anti-government protests in Iran that erupted in late December 2025 and continued into late January 2026. These demonstrations were sparked primarily by a severe economic crisis, including hyperinflation, a sharp devaluation of the Iranian rial, and widespread hardship following events like the 12-day Israel-Iran conflict in June 2025, which exacerbated economic isolation and sanctions.

The protests quickly escalated from economic grievances into political demands, including calls to end the clerical rule of the Islamic Republic, dismantle its repressive apparatus, and pursue regime change toward democracy. Demonstrators chanted slogans supporting Reza Pahlavi (such as "Reza, Reza Pahlavi!") and revived symbols of the pre-revolutionary monarchy.

The regime responded with extreme violence, including a brutal crackdown starting around January 8, 2026, described by some observers as one of the deadliest in the Islamic Republic's history.

Security forces reportedly killed tens of thousands protesters, imposed internet blackouts, and labeled demonstrators as foreign agents or terrorists. Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei took a hardline stance, accusing protesters of serving external interests and calling them "the enemies of God".
