UNESCO eyes to intensify cooperation with Azerbaijan

UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Social and Human Sciences Gabriela Ramos has said that today, millions of people worldwide suffer from discrimination.

Ramos made these remarks at the sixth World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue in Baku on May 1, Report informs.

She noted that it is very important to help preserve peace.

“I believe that we will achieve our goals. We must encourage peaceful dialogue. There is a rise in anti-Semitism and Islamophobia around the world. Today, millions of people around the world suffer from discrimination. In this case, we must hold a dialogue. It is also very important that women’s voices are heard at such events,” UNESCO assistant director-general said.

She thanked Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for organising such a forum.

Ramos also noted the importance of interstate dialogue in establishing peace.

“Dialogue is also the basis of peace and sustainable development. We are working to create an atmosphere of dialogue in Sri Lanka, Rwanda, and Ukraine. We also want to intensify our cooperation with Azerbaijan,” UNESCO assistant director-general added.
