US airstrikes target multiple sites in northern Yemen
The United States has launched a new wave of airstrikes targeting military sites and vital infrastructure in northern Yemen, intensifying its military actions against the war-torn country.
The airstrikes struck the al-Asayed area in the Kitaf wa al-Boqe’e district of Sa’ada province in northwestern Yemen early on April 4, Caliber.Az reports per Arab media.
While no immediate reports of casualties have emerged, local sources confirmed that the Kahlan area, located east of Sa’ada city, was also bombed. The extent of damage remains unclear.
This recent escalation comes amid Yemen’s ongoing retaliation against American and Israeli targets, which intensified after the outbreak of the devastating Israeli military operation in Gaza on October 7, 2023. In response to the American-British support for Israel’s actions, Yemen's Ansar Allah resistance movement, also known as the Houthis, has been actively targeting ships associated with Israel, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
One of the key strategies in these operations has been the disruption of the Eilat port in southern Israel, significantly impacting the Israeli economy. The Yemeni Armed Forces have made it clear that they will continue their military operations until Israel ceases its ground and aerial offensives in Gaza, further exacerbating the already tense geopolitical climate.
The latest airstrikes by the US come as the conflict in Yemen, which has raged for several years, continues to claim the lives of thousands and devastate the country's infrastructure. While the humanitarian crisis deepens, both Yemen’s Ansar Allah movement and the US military show no sign of de-escalating their respective operations, raising concerns over the prolonged impact of this conflict on the region.
