US Forces conducts precision airstrikes to counter ISIS threat in Syria
US Central Command (CENTCOM) forces carried out dozens of precision airstrikes on December 8 targeting ISIS camps and operatives in central Syria.
The strikes aimed at ISIS leaders and their strongholds are part of a broader mission to disrupt, weaken and ultimately defeat ISIS, Caliber.Az reports, citing US Central Command.
The operation seeks to prevent the terrorist group from conducting external operations and ensure it cannot exploit the current instability in Syria to re-establish its presence.
Over 75 targets were struck using a range of US Air Force assets, including B-52 bombers, F-15 fighters and A-10 attack aircraft. Preliminary battle damage assessments are ongoing, although there are no signs of civilian casualties at this stage.
CENTCOM, in partnership with regional allies and partners, has pledged to continue operations to erode ISIS’s operational strength amid the evolving situation in Syria.
General Michael Erik Kurilla made a clear warning: "There should be no doubt - we will not allow ISIS to reconstitute and take advantage of the current situation in Syria. All organizations in Syria should know that we will hold them accountable if they partner with or support ISIS in any way."
The statement underscores the firm stance of US forces in their commitment to combat ISIS's resurgence.
