US-led coalition forces down Iranian drone in Syria
US-led Coalition forces stationed in the Koniko gas field base in Syria's Deir Ezzor province shot down a drone belonging to the Iranian militias, according to a war monitor.
The drone crashed in Al-Tabia village in the eastern Deir Ezzor countryside, Erbil-based news agency Basnews reports, citing the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
Additionally, the International Coalition flew a balloon over the region, and its forces were mobilized inside the military bases, the London-based Observatory added.
These moves are occurring amid ongoing tensions between the Iran-backed militias and the International Coalition in northern Syria.
Earlier today, a statement from US Central Command announced that a rocket attack was carried out in northeast Syria targeting Coalition forces, without resulting in any harm or significant damage.
"An ineffective rocket attack targeted coalition forces, at Mission Support Site Conoco, northeast Syria, today at 10:51 AM Eastern Standard Time (approximately 5:51 PM local time in Syria)," the statement noted.
