05 July 2025 18:31
On July 5 at around 10 a.m., a single-engine aircraft crashed while attempting to take off from the Châteauroux-Villers aerodrome in the Indre department.
Emergency services from the Indre Fire and Rescue Service (SDIS 36) found the pilot, a man in his fifties and a member of the local aero club, deceased at the scene, Caliber.Az reports, citing French media.
He was the sole occupant of the aircraft.
According to the firefighters’ report, the plane experienced engine failure during takeoff on the runway located in the commune of Saint-Maur.
The pilot attempted to execute a turnaround manoeuvre but, lacking sufficient altitude and speed, the aircraft ultimately crashed at the end of the runway.
