US, Norwegian F-35 fighter jets to train in Finland
Finnish Air Force has stated that the US and Norwegian F-35s will conduct training activities on the territory of Finland.
The training event, called Joint Fires, will take place from August 19 to 22 and is organised by the Finnish Air Force, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
“In the future, F-35 fighter jets will provide significant new capabilities for the entire Finnish defence system. The fighter's radar and other sensors will enable effective air support for combat operations on land and at sea, which is why the Air Force is working closely with other services and NATO allies on the F-35 programme. The purpose of the joint exercise is to test the ability of the allied F-35s to provide target designation for firing from Army and Navy weapon systems,” said Colonel Tommi Heikkala, deputy chief of staff of the Finnish Air Force Command.
