US Secretary of State highlights China's military superiority in shipbuilding
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has pointed out that China has a significant advantage over the US in military industry, with a particular focus on shipbuilding.
Rubio stressed that the US is struggling to keep up with China's rapidly advancing capabilities in this sector, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
He explained that the US aerospace industry and shipbuilders were struggling to keep up with China's pace, emphasising that China could build ten ships before the US could complete one.
He highlighted the growing disparity between the two nations in military production. The US Secretary of State called this an alarming vulnerability that needs to be addressed promptly. He stated that both the Pentagon and the US president are already aware of the issue and have formulated a plan to close the gap.
China has rapidly advanced in military shipbuilding over the past two decades, surpassing the US in several key areas of naval construction. The Chinese military, backed by significant state investment, has focused on modernizing its fleet, developing a wide range of advanced warships, including aircraft carriers, destroyers, and submarines. China’s shipbuilding industry has expanded its capacity with an impressive number of shipyards and advanced technologies, allowing it to produce naval vessels at a much faster rate than the US.
In particular, China has focused on producing large numbers of smaller, versatile warships, as well as enhancing its ability to build and deploy naval assets quickly. This growing capacity in military shipbuilding is seen as a central component of China’s broader efforts to increase its naval power and challenge the US dominance in the Pacific and other strategic regions.
