Estonia bans isobutane imports from Russia, Belarus
21 August 2025 18:57
The Estonian government has introduced a ban on the import of isobutane from Russia and Belarus.
Speaking at a government press conference, Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna said the move forms part of the country’s national sanctions, which Tallinn is also seeking to implement at the European Union level, Caliber.Az reports, citing Estonian media.
“We have approved a regulation banning the import of isobutane from Russia and Belarus. This decision was taken as part of Estonia’s national sanctions, but we are also pushing for it at the EU level,” he said.
Tsahkna added that despite the EU’s ban on Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG) in December, imports have continued under the guise of butane.
