US, South Korea condemn North Korea's launch of ballistic missile
Korean Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken expressed disapproval of the missile launch by North Korea on January 6.
The South Korean foreign policy chief made the remarks at a press conference following the talks in Seoul, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
“We condemn the North Korean ballistic missile launch that took place today,” Cho Tae-yul said.
The South Korean minister said he and Blinken discussed the DPRK's nuclear program and cooperation between Moscow and Pyongyang, as well as compliance with UN sanctions against North Korea.
According to South Korea, the launch of what is believed to be an intermediate-range ballistic missile took place around noon local time (06:00 Moscow time) from the Pyongyang area toward the Sea of Japan. The missile travelled about 1,100 kilometres and landed between the Korean peninsula and Japan. The previous time North Korea launched a missile on November 5.
