IDF kills Hezbollah operative directing rocket attacks from Lebanon
The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) have confirmed the killing of a Hezbollah militant in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley who was coordinating rocket attacks against Israel.
The strike took place on August 5, when Israeli Air Force jets targeted Hassam Qassem Harab, a Hezbollah operative, Caliber.Az reports per IDF.
He was reportedly directing militant cells based in Syria that were planning to launch rockets towards the Golan Heights region.
The IDF said Harab’s actions posed a direct threat to Israeli civilians and vowed to continue efforts to eliminate threats to Israel’s security.
On the night of July 31, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) conducted a significant series of airstrikes targeting Hezbollah infrastructure in southern Lebanon. Among the key targets was a major missile production facility believed to be critical to Hezbollah’s arsenal.
According to Israeli military sources, the strikes aimed to degrade the group’s capability to launch attacks against northern Israel. The operation involved precision air and drone strikes coordinated by the IDF’s Northern Command.
Hezbollah, the Lebanese Shiite militant group backed by Iran, has repeatedly been accused by Israel of amassing rockets and preparing for potential conflict.
Lebanese officials and local media reported explosions and air raid sirens across southern Lebanon, but there were no immediate reports of casualties.
