India increases Russian oil purchases
16 March 2026 19:37
New Delhi has significantly ramped up its purchases of Russian oil in response to disruptions in hydrocarbon supplies from the Persian Gulf, India’s Deputy Minister of Commerce and Industry, Rajesh Agarwal, said.
Agarwal indicated that the volume of Russian oil imports had risen in recent days. The increase comes as the US-Israeli military operations against Iran have heightened instability in global energy markets, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
Missile and drone attacks, particularly in the Persian Gulf region, have effectively disrupted the flow of oil and gas through the Strait of Hormuz, which remains the primary export route for most countries in the area.
