War-torn Middle East to receive half billion dollars in EU humanitarian aid
16 March 2026 16:25
The European Union has announced it will provide €458 million (around $525 million) in humanitarian assistance to countries across the Middle East affected by ongoing conflicts, including the war involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, as well as Israeli military actions in Lebanon, Al Jazeera reports.
EU Commissioner for Preparedness, Crisis Management and Equality Hadja Lahbib emphasized the EU’s proactive role in the region, stating: “In the war-torn Middle East, the European Union is taking initiative while others are stepping back.”
The funding aims to support populations facing urgent humanitarian needs, addressing shortages of food, medical supplies, and essential services caused by escalating violence.
