Greece delivers interceptor missiles to Qatar amid regional tensions
Greece has transferred several dozen interceptor missiles for Patriot systems from its arsenal to Qatar, Greek defence outlet Defence Point reports.
The first 24 missiles arrived at Qatar’s Al Udeid Air Base aboard a C-17 Globemaster strategic transport aircraft, departing from Bahrain.
The transfer comes amid heightened demand for missile defence systems due to ongoing military conflicts in the Middle East and other regions. The move highlights a shortage of interceptor missiles and the need to modernise Patriot systems to handle new types of munitions.
Defence agreements between Greece, the UAE, and Qatar provide for cooperation and mutual support, including personnel training and joint exercises. The current missile transfer reflects these bilateral arrangements and the countries’ strategic interests in the region.
