Uzbekistan’s president offers condolences to Azerbaijan over devastating plane crash
Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, has expressed his deepest condolences to Azerbaijan following the tragic crash of an Azerbaijan Airlines passenger plane near the city of Aktau.
In a heartfelt message to President Ilham Aliyev, Mirziyoyev conveyed his sorrow and solidarity with the people of Azerbaijan, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
"Dear Ilham Heydar oglu, Please accept my deepest condolences for the numerous human losses resulting from the tragic crash of the Azerbaijan Airlines passenger plane near the city of Aktau," President Mirziyoyev wrote.
He continued, “I share the grief of the bereaved families and express my support to them, and extend wishes for a swift recovery to all those injured.”
On December 25, 2024, an Azerbaijani Airlines (AZAL) passenger flight travelling from Baku to Grozny crashed near the city of Aktau, Kazakhstan. Of the 67 people on board, 38 lost their lives, while 29 survived. Preliminary investigations point to the possibility of external physical and technical interference as factors contributing to the crash.
