Western Azerbaijan Community: US should stop interfering in Azerbaijan's internal affairs

The Western Azerbaijan Community has strongly condemned the slanderous statement of the US Embassy in Azerbaijan and its interference in the internal affairs of Azerbaijan.

“The American Embassy is trying to explain this slanderous campaign allegedly by the presence of problems with freedom of speech in our country. But the true reason for this pressure is known - it is Azerbaijan's restoration of its territorial integrity and sovereignty,” Caliber.Az reports, citing the Community’s message.

The Community also criticized the U.S. administration for what it described as discriminatory policies and selective approaches to human rights and territorial sovereignty.

“The current U.S. administration has lost the right to speak about human rights, because it discriminates against Azerbaijanis on ethnic and religious grounds, is selective about the territorial integrity and sovereignty of countries, supports the policy of deportation, ethnic cleansing, aggression and occupation by Armenia. Our community constantly feels this unjust approach and discrimination,” the message read.

Pointing to the embassy's reaction to criticism, the Community stated: “The fact that the U.S. Embassy reacted so aggressively not even to criticism, but to the most ordinary question, proves their ‘commitment’ to freedom of speech and opinion when it comes directly to them.”

The Community demanded that the U.S. administration cease its alleged interference and discriminatory practices.

“We demand from the current U.S. administration to stop interfering in Azerbaijan's internal affairs, stop discriminating against the Azerbaijani people and stop abusing human rights for political purposes,” the statement concluded.
