WP: Kennedy Jr. wants position in potential Harris administration
Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has requested a meeting with Democratic nominee Kamala Harris to discuss a potential Cabinet position if he supports her campaign and she wins, according to Kennedy campaign officials.
However, Harris and her advisers have not responded to the request or shown interest in the proposal, Caliber.Az reports, citing The Washington Post.
Kennedy is exploring various options for his presidential campaign, which has seen a decline in national polling since President Joe Biden exited the race. His campaign claims that public support for both Harris and Donald Trump could increase if Kennedy were offered a Cabinet role.
Kennedy continues to campaign with the aim of defeating both Trump and Harris, releasing his “America Strong” plan for bipartisan governance, and planning rallies in states like Arizona and Nebraska. He has also indicated a willingness to withdraw from the race if he finds a more effective way to achieve his goals.
Kennedy expressed disappointment that Harris had not responded to his meeting request, calling it a “strategic mistake” and suggesting that it could be a close race. He believes that open discussions and collaboration are essential for unifying the country.
