Ukraine reveals impact of recent strikes on Russia’s largest oil refineries

The General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces has reported strikes on Russian territory between September 14 and 20, naming the Syzran Refinery in the Samara Region, the Slavneft-YANOS refinery in Yaroslavl, and Gazprom Neft’s Moscow Refinery among the oil industry targets.

“Thus, as of September 21, 2026, following the strike on the Moscow Refinery, more than 45% of Russia’s oil refining capacity has been taken offline,” the statement said. “One of the consequences is a shortage of quality fuel in Russia. In particular, there has been a sharp decline in the production of Euro-5 standard gasoline and diesel fuel.”

ASTRA Telegram channel detailed attacks on all of the above-mentioned refineries during the week beginning September 14.

Earlier on September 21, US President Donald Trump argued that Russia “has unfortunately lost control of its Diesel Oil Industry due to its War with Ukraine.”
