Yerevan reiterates offer to Baku for unspecified peace agreement
Armenia has once again expressed its readiness to sign a peace treaty with Azerbaijan.
Speaking at the 149th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Geneva, Armenian Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan stated that Yerevan is prepared to finalize a peace deal "even today", Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.
Simonyan emphasized that Armenia and Azerbaijan are on the verge of a potential agreement, calling on Baku to demonstrate political will and seize the moment to establish lasting peace.
"The time has come to establish peace. Armenia is ready to sign a peace treaty even today," Simonyan declared.
Previously, Armenian authorities had proposed signing 13 out of 16 agreed-upon points of a draft peace treaty, leaving certain provisions unresolved.
However, Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry rejected this approach. Ministry spokesman Aykhan Hajizada deemed Armenia's proposal to sign the draft agreement while excluding unresolved provisions as "unacceptable," stressing that leaving key issues unresolved would not contribute to sustainable peace.
