Zardari: Pakistan, Azerbaijan bound by deep-rooted fraternal relationship

Pakistan has reiterated its close relations with Azerbaijan in a message marking the country’s Independence Day, highlighting cooperation across political, economic, and cultural fields.

In a congratulatory letter addressed to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari extended “warmest and most cordial felicitations” to the government and people of Azerbaijan on the occasion,” Caliber.Az reports via state media. 

“Pakistan and Azerbaijan are bound by a deep-rooted fraternal relationship that draws its strength from our shared faith, rich cultural heritage, and common values. Over the years, our bilateral ties have evolved into a robust and enduring partnership characterized by mutual trust, understanding, and steadfast support for each other on issues of core national interest,” he wrote. 

Zardari noted that Pakistan rejoices in Azerbaijan’s socio-economic progress and development, adding that this progress has taken place under President Aliyev’s leadership.

“We remain firmly committed to further deepening and diversifying our multifaceted cooperation, particularly in the areas of bilateral trade, energy connectivity, defense collaboration, and people-to-people exchanges, for the mutual benefit of our two brotherly nations,” the letter reads.

The Pakistani president also conveyed his best wishes for President Aliyev’s health and for the continued peace and prosperity of the Azerbaijani people.

“I avail myself of this opportunity to extend my best wishes for Your Excellency's good health and happiness, and for the continued peace, progress, and prosperity of the brotherly people of Azerbaijan. Please accept, Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration,” he wrote.
