Azerbaijan registers rise in number of coronavirus infections
Azerbaijan's Health Ministry has declared a rise in the number of coronavirus infections in Azerbaijan and neighbouring countries.
The reason for this may be the weakening of collective immunity acquired over time, and the lifting of all restrictions in connection with quarantine, Report informs citing Health Ministry expert Gunay Ismayilova.
"Let's not forget that many infections become more active in the autumn period. The change of season causes certain changes in the human body. When the weather gets colder, the body's resistance decreases, and it becomes weaker, so cases of coronavirus infection are increasing. Also, the reason for the increase in cases of respiratory tract infection in the autumn months is the active use of enclosed spaces with the onset of cold weather. It is known that each new wave of the pandemic generates new mutations of the virus that are able to bypass the immune system. Given all this, it is possible that in the autumn the number of cases of coronavirus infection in our country will increase," she said.
