Azerbaijan, UNESCAP strengthen ties in digital health
Azerbaijani Health Minister Teymur Musayev and United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) Executive Secretary Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana underscored commitment to deepening cooperation in digital health during a July 5 meeting.
Welcoming the UNESCAP delegation, Minister Musayev highlighted Azerbaijan’s long-standing and fruitful collaboration with various UN bodies, including UNESCAP. He noted that Azerbaijan has been a member of the commission since 1992 and has built strong bilateral relationships with many member states over the years, Caliber.Az reports via the ministry.
Musayev emphasised the importance of UNESCAP as a platform for advancing joint initiatives in areas such as transport, energy, digitalisation, and now increasingly, healthcare. He expressed confidence that this partnership will continue to grow and evolve in the coming years.
In turn, Alisjahbana thanked the Azerbaijani side for the warm reception and praised the country’s role in hosting the 2023 Summit marking the 25th anniversary of the United Nations Special Programme for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA), calling it a milestone event.
She voiced UNESCAP’s interest in fostering a closer partnership with Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Health, particularly in advancing digital health technologies and improving healthcare infrastructure throughout the region.
The meeting also included a comprehensive exchange of views on various topics of mutual interest, paving the way for further collaboration in line with sustainable development goals.
