Uniper: Azerbaijan has potential to export ammonia to Germany

Uwe Fip, Senior Vice President of Germany's power generation company Uniper has said that Germany plans to commission an ammonia import terminal by 2030.

He made the remarks at the Baku Energy Forum, adding that the country's oil and gas reserves are expected to grow by 2030, according to Trend.

Fip said he expects that Azerbaijan too will be able to fill this terminal and contribute more to the transition to green energy in the future.

Europeans have high hopes for Azerbaijan in relation to energy security, given the current geopolitical situation, the senior vice president said.

"During the crisis, our company took over 99 per cent from the state after a very long experience as a private company. To overcome this crisis, we built Germany's first liquefied natural gas terminal," he said.

Despite all the steps taken, according to the senior vice president, by 2050, 80 per cent of Germany's energy consumption will be imported.

Fip said Germany has invested $40 billion in energy security.

The 28th International Caspian Oil and Gas Exhibition, the 11th International Energy and Renewable Energy Exhibition and the 20th International Transport, Transit and Logistics Exhibition are being held in Baku from May 31 to June 3.
