Azerbaijan, Morocco mull development of relations

Azerbaijani Ambassador to Morocco Nazim Samedov and Moroccan Equipment and Water Resources Minister Nizar Baraka discussed projects between the two countries on expanding cooperation and developing ties.

During the meeting, the sides also discussed the development prospects in road construction, transport, water supply, meteorology, construction and use of seaports, Report informs.

The ambassador briefed his interlocutor on partner organisations and the management system in Azerbaijan and offered to organise reciprocal trips of representatives of relevant structures as a first step for developing comprehensive cooperation.

The minister endorsed this idea and expressed readiness to invite delegations from the abovementioned areas for an official visit to Rabat for further cooperation.

The ambassador then spoke about the construction work being carried out in Azerbaijan’s territories liberated from occupation and said that there are great opportunities for Moroccan companies to cooperate in this process.

Minister Baraka expressed his readiness to provide support on this issue.

On December 30, 1991, Morocco recognised the independence of Azerbaijan. Diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Morocco were established on August 25, 1992.

In the international arena, cooperation between countries is carried out within the framework of various international organisations such as the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), UN and others.
