Haber Global: Azerbaijan enhancing cooperation with ECO in all spheres VIDEO

03 July 2025 09:27

A series of important forums were held in the run-up to the 17th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), taking place in the city of Lachin, Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan hosted several significant events aimed at strengthening cooperation among ECO member states in all spheres. The forums were held as part of preparations for the summit and reflect Azerbaijan’s growing role in regional diplomacy, Caliber.Az reports, citing Haber Global.

Following the ECO Youth Forum in Aghdam on July 1, Lachin hosted the ECO Women’s Forum on July 2, which brought together deputy ministers, parliamentarians, and representatives of international organizations from Türkiye, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkmenistan. The forum focused on enhancing the role of women across all sectors of society, with panel discussions highlighting initiatives to boost women’s participation in economic, political, and social life.

Meanwhile, the 6th ECO Business Forum was held in the city of Shusha on July 2, gathering over 170 entrepreneurs from 10 countries. The primary goal of the event was to expand trade and investment opportunities among ECO member states. The Turkish delegation was notably active and well-represented at the forum.

The Economic Cooperation Organization is a regional intergovernmental group focused on enhancing economic, trade, and cultural collaboration among its member states, which include countries from Central Asia, the Middle East, and South Asia. Azerbaijan and Iran are both founding members of ECO.

The 17th ECO Summit is set to take place in the city of Khankendi on July 3-4, with the expected attendance of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The Summit will bring together ECO Heads of State and Government, ministers, observers, special guests from non-ECO countries, and leaders of international organisations, all united in their efforts to foster development and prosperity through fragile economic integration. Particularly, the participants are set to discuss economic integration, sustainable development, and future collaboration within the ECO framework.
