Armenian political figure acknowledges Vardenis' historical name as Basarkechar

Azerbaijan has no territorial claims to Armenia, but the fact that the territory of present-day Armenia is ancient Azerbaijani land remains.

Such remarks were voiced by Armenian socio-political figure and publicist Arkady Vartanyan, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.

Thus, he said, "Azerbaijan may try to conduct a police operation" in Zangazur.

"Or will demand to return Vardenis to its former Azerbaijani name - Basarkechar," Vartanyan said.

Baku can indeed conduct a police operation in Zangazur if there is a threat to Azerbaijani territory or peaceful Azerbaijanis in Garabagh and East Zangazur. But the fact that Vartanyan remembers what Vardenis was called before 1969 is wonderful.
