Lithuania calls on Georgia to synchronise position with EU
27 September 2023 19:29
Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda has said that Georgia should synchronise its position with EU policy.
Nausėda made these remarks during a meeting with Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili, who is in Vilnius, TASS reports.
“It is important to synchronise Georgia’s geopolitical course with the priority spheres of the EU’s foreign policy for Sakartvelo [Lithuania has been officially using this name for Georgia since 2018] to obtain the status of an EU candidate,” the Lithuanian leader said.
“Tbilisi’s support for EU sanctions against the Russian Federation is also important. The consistent support for the community’s sanctions policy is required,” he added.
