Israel’s war on Gaza has killed over 52,000 Palestinians since October 2023

08 May 2025 18:49

The death toll from Israeli military attacks on the Gaza Strip has reached 52,760 since October 7, 2023, according to Palestinian health officials in Gaza.

Over the past 24 hours, 106 individuals were killed, and 367 others were injured in airstrikes, Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media.

The total number of wounded has surpassed 119,000, with thousands still trapped beneath the rubble of destroyed buildings.

The Israeli military resumed intensive bombardment of Gaza on March 18, after a ceasefire agreement expired on January 19. Since then, 2,651 Palestinians have been killed, including many elderly, women, and children. An additional 7,223 individuals have sustained injuries.

Israel, having violated the ceasefire, announced plans to escalate military operations against Hamas in response to the group’s rejection of new ceasefire proposals. Hamas, for its part, accused Israel of failing to honour its ceasefire commitments, accusing the country of continuing what it described as a "genocide" against the Palestinian people in Gaza.

The renewed attacks have coincided with political turmoil in Israel, including the dismissal of the head of Shin Bet, the internal security and intelligence service, amid Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s controversial decisions.
